"Thank you so much for allowing Hand2Hand International to participate in the MLK Day of Service with Uhuru Furniture. We all were very touched by our ability to help your organization distribute the message of economic development and furniture donation in the Black community. Our youth was well served by providing service in areas of Philadelphia many were not familiar with. We look forward to volunteering again the spring, in warmer weather and again providing support to Uhuru Furniture. Your organization revitalizes our spirit to achieve great success as a non-profit group." - Zella Gordon on behalf of Hand2Hand International

Economic development by and for the African community must be on the agenda in Philadelphia

Economic development by and for the African community must be on the agenda in Philadelphia
An article on www.philly.com reports that the economic situation for African workers is at an all time low and that African men in their 30s-50s are "are no longer wondering when they will find work again, but whether they ever will." (click the photo to read the article) APEDF is calling for an infusion of genuine economic development in the African communty and collective projects such as community gardens to meet the needs of the impoverished African communities in this city.
